Omid Shaye, M.D. Medical Oncologist and Hematologist
A native of the San Fernando Valley, Dr. Shaye earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from USC before embarking on internal medicine training at the renowned LAC/USC Medical center. For his specialty training in hematology and oncology, he transitioned to the USC Norris Cancer Center, one of the nation's leading comprehensive cancer centers. While at USC Norris, Dr. Shaye was chosen to be Chief Fellow of Medical Oncology in 2006. He left academics to establish Wellness Oncology & Hematology as a way to bring cutting edge therapeutic options to patients in the San Fernando Valley.
Dr. Shaye places great importance on his collaboration with Dr. Ashkan Lashkari and Dr. Chris Ho along with other cancer specialists in Los Angeles and beyond to bring the best available treatment plans to his patients. Dr. Shaye sees his role as the 'quarterback of a patient's cancer treatment' overseeing individualized treatments with the ever so expanding options in targeted therapies, immunotherapies, chemotherapy, radiation and surgery to bring about healing and improve the patient's life. In addition to the best available treatments, Dr. Shaye and his colleagues are devoted to clinical trials that bring the newest treatment options into their practice.
As a result of serving as the primary oncology physician in a patient's life, Dr. Shaye develops very close relationships with patients and their families. Spending time getting to really know and understand his patients is not only vital to a successful treatment plan, but enables Dr. Shaye to know his patients beyond their disease, which does not define who they are as a person. He values the personal relationships that develop and sees them as a priceless addition to the satisfaction that comes from helping a patient on the road to wellness.
By establishing Wellness Oncology & Hematology with Dr. Lashkari and Dr. Ho, Dr. Shaye is able to offer patients the combined experiences of the best known comprehensive cancer centers in Southern California.
