Wellness Oncology welcomes Christopher S. Ho, M.D.
Hello! My name is Christopher Ho, or Dr. Ho. I have recently joined Dr. Omid Shaye and Dr. Ashkan Lashkari at Wellness Oncology in West Hills and Tarzana. In the coming weeks and months, we hope to apprise and educate our patients on our blog about recent developments in cancer prevention, cancer treatments and support of cancer patients, not to mention the latest news on blood diseases.
A little about me... I am a hematologist and a medical oncologist. I am certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both. I am also board-certified in Internal Medicine.
My parents were from British Hong Kong. I am originally from Appleton, Wisconsin and I grew up in Philadelphia. I was a three-time Varsity Letterman in Men’s Lacrosse while studying at Johns Hopkins University. I returned to Philadelphia for my medical degree at Temple University in which I worked at the Fox Chase Cancer Center (formerly known as the Institute for Cancer Research) as a medical student.
I started my graduate medical career at the famous County Hospital of the LAC-USC Medical Center, and finished my internal medicine residency at the University of California, Davis. My sub-specialty training in hematology and medical oncology was at the University of Southern California, one of the original eight comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. I was honored to serve as Chief Fellow of Medical Oncology at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2008.
In joining Dr. Lashkari and Dr Shaye, I hope to continue our goal of supporting the wellness of both our hematology and cancer patients in the San Fernando Valley. I believe that the health of my patients depends on a combination of the latest techniques and information with the personal touch of a warm and caring physician. Our multiple locations in the San Fernando Valley also make for convenient conference points to discuss and tailor individual treatment plans for each of our patients. Although I consider myself a “geek” when it comes to figures and facts with regards to cancer trends and treatments, I am a believer of the inherent hope, courage and resilience of of the human spirit.
In my spare time, I am devoted to my wife and two young boys. My favorite authors right now are Bill Martin, Jr. and Margaret Wise Brown. I have a passing interest in the art of Eric Carle. I am an avid sports fan, love to discuss recent trends in nutrition, diet supplementation and exercise. I aspire to someday learn fly-fishing and skeet-shooting. I speak Spanish and Chinese fluently.
I will be in both our West Hills and Tarzana offices. Please call 818 346 1773 for an appointment.
